Before the semester started, Korea University Buddy Assistant (KUBA) hosted an orientation day where we met our group members, had lunch at the cafeteria, learned about safety precautions, the Alien Residence Card (ARC) process, and took part in a brief campus tour. After the orientation, students could choose from several optional activities to explore/learn more of Seoul, but I decided to skip these since I planned to explore the city with my friends. In the evening, there was an after-party with our KUBA group, where I met new people and enjoyed some great conversations. It was also my first time legally drinking in Korea!
As for my course schedule, I initially enrolled in four classes, but two were conducted entirely in Korean, which was overwhelming! Make sure to double-check that the course title or description has English in parentheses when registering. I had a tough time during the add/drop period but eventually managed to get into my other two classes. To increase your chances of getting into your desired courses during this period, be sure to fill out the course enrollment form. I was fortunate that one professor allowed me to join their class, even though it was at full capacity, after I emailed and expressed my genuine interest. Look at the KUBS tab for more information!
I’m currently in the second week of school, and things aren’t going too badly. I hope I can keep up and do well! Look forward to my travel, food, and academic blogs!
